Gabriel Maltais : The Vision Forged on the Ground

The legacy of a builder

“Our ancestors refused to enrich the nobles in Paris in order to own their land; today, it is Ottawa that must stop bowing down to remain masters of our own destiny.”

In the 19th century, Marguerite Belley, the future Mother of Jonquière, cleared the lands along the Rivière aux Sables alongside her husband, Jean Maltais, and other pioneer families. In an era where our society tends to forget its history at an alarming rate, remembering these builders is not a luxury, it is a necessity to stay on course. It is this same blood, this same proud character, and this same resilience that their great-great-grandson, Gabriel Maltais, carries today. Every day, he forges his own path with constant vigilance, a keen sense of observation, and unwavering integrity, driven by the profound conviction that the future of a people rests on the memory of its roots.

The school of life : Learning to stand up for yourself

Gabriel is not an armchair theorist; he's a man of action. Marked by the loss of his father at the age of 12, he learned early on to stand on his own two feet. Placed in a foster family and a youth reception center between the ages of 8 to 18, he developed precocious maturity in this demanding environment : he learned to analyze human psychology, decode behaviors, and anticipate reactions in order to protect himself. Later, the death of his mother at the age of 26 imposed another major ordeal, ultimately forging an unshakeable character and resilience in the face of life's storms.

From experience to commitment

Drawing on this experience, he has accumulated over 30 years of expertise in human relations and sales. From the flair of street sales to his years in security, he has encountered and deciphered countless facets of human nature. While he acknowledges having navigated gray areas and made some missteps, Gabriel takes a clear-eyed look at his past. Each experience was the necessary catalyst for moving forward. He is grateful to those who crossed his path : their lessons gave him the confidence to recover, surpass himself, and become the man of integrity he is today.

A public commitment to the future

It is this background and his refusal to remain idle that led him, starting in 2020, to become publicly involved through the power of his writing. Speaking on major news and sports platforms, he campaigned to awaken minds, notably with his stance that sparked heated debates about the need for a complete rebuild for the Montreal Canadiens a difficult but essential transition, subsequently fully endorsed by the community. Today, this determination is evident in the design of the structures for the Eastern Union and the Val-Boréal. Far removed from the media circus and pretense, Gabriel brings his straightforward approach to everything he does. Whether he's laying the groundwork for the future or going about his daily life, he remains the same : an authentic man, dedicated to his role, proud of his roots.

The story continues, and it is being written now.
